MSC was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1973 following the closing of the Boston Naval Shipyard. Marine Systems was originally created to provide engineering and technical support to the U.S. Navy, but has expanded its services to include other marine and non-marine customers.

Since its founding the company has held 39 prime contracts for the U.S. government over the past 38 years. Currently Marine Systems maintains offices in Boston, Massachusetts and Norfolk, Virginia, has personnel in San Diego, CA, Philadelphia, PA, Mayport, FL, Bath, ME, and sends engineers and technicians all over the world.
