Senior
Structural Designer
A full service marine design company located in Boston, MA has a requirement
for an experienced structural designer with proficiency in AutoCAD. Typical
duties will include:
- Creating designs for
equipment foundations and new structure based on field sketches of existing
conditions and as-built plans.
- Laying out and detailing new or modified structure.
- Documenting existing conditions on vessels or
facilities through field check sketches.
- Calculating weight and center of
gravity changes resulting from structural modifications.
- Drawing checking.
- Assisting Dept. head with estimating and
quality assurance.
All design documentation is executed in AutoCAD.
Required experience includes:
- Structural design

Desired experience includes:

Marine Systems
Corporation (MSC) is currently seeking a candidate to represent us locally in Gulf
Coast Zone 4, Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWCPCD).
Responsibilities
include programmatic and engineering support to on-going programs at
NSWCPCD. This effort provides support to
on-going programs developed by the Acquisition and the Life Cycle Managers. The
Program Executive Office Ships (PEO Ships) Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD),
Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) and LCAC Program Office, the San Antonio Class
Amphibious Transport Dock Program Office, the Auxiliary Ships, Special
Mission
ships, Small Boats and Craft Program Office and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) have
tasked NSWC PCD to support future Sea base connectors and expeditionary ships
and craft, both in the platform and technology areas. This includes engineering
and programmatic support to ONR, the Naval Sea Systems Command Surface Ship
Design and Systems Engineering Office (NAVSEA 05D) and PEO SHIPS in the design,
acquisition, testing, evaluation and production of Sea base
Connectors: Mobile Landing Platform (MLP), Ship to Shore Connector (SSC),
Transformable Craft (T-Craft), and Landing Platform Dock (LPD) Class of
Amphibious Ships. Also, this includes support for the ONR Advanced Skirt Design
efforts and the advanced lift fan effort, along with other emerging aircushion
vehicles (ACV) technologies developed in support of LCAC and SSC.
Qualifications and requirements are as follows:
- 10+ years experience in the above
programs is desired.
- United States citizen.
- Security clearance or ability to obtain
security clearance via background check.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking
skills relative to the status and work flow of deliverables.
- Strong initiative and commitment to
deadlines.
- Experience with MS Office suite
required.

program.
Responsibilities are as follows:

SGML processing and programming:

Maintenance of a small MySQL database with a Ruby/Rails front-end

Write as-needed, one-off Perl scripts to transform SGML documents

Familiarity with PDF generation is a plus
