    Electrical Designer

    A position is available for an Electrical Designer to support U.S. Naval and Commercial Vessels. Responsibilities include design drawing development, material/parts specifications, engineering calculations, engineering reports and feasibility studies. Knowledge of Ungrounded Electrical Systems, Power Distribution and Lighting is a plus. All candidates must be proficient in AutoCAD 2000 or later. The position is full-time.     Senior Structural Designer

    A full service marine design company located in Boston, MA has a requirement for an experienced structural designer with proficiency in AutoCAD. Typical duties will include:

  •  Creating designs for equipment foundations and new structure based on field sketches of existing conditions and as-built plans.
  •  Laying out and detailing new or modified structure.
  •  Documenting existing conditions on vessels or facilities through field check sketches.
  •  Calculating weight and center of gravity changes resulting from structural modifications.
  •  Drawing checking.
  •  Assisting Dept. head with estimating and quality assurance.


  • All design documentation is executed in AutoCAD.

    Required experience includes:

  •  Structural design
  •  Proficiency in AutoCAD
  •  Field sketching of existing conditions


  • Desired experience includes:

  •  Structural design for marine vessels
  •  Shipyard experience in structural trades or design
  •  US Naval vessel design
  •  Relocation assistance is not available.

    Technical Writer / Electrical Designer

    A position is available for a Technical Writer / Electrical Designer to support a U.S. Naval craft program. Responsibilities include:

    ·         [90%] Development and revision of operator and maintenance manuals for electrical and electronic systems.


    o   Documentation is created and/or updated in SGML- or XML-based programs for digital technical manual production.


    o   Documentation conforms to government standards and specifications.

    ·         [10%] Development of design drawings, material/parts specifications, engineering calculations, and engineering reports and feasibility studies.

    o   Drawings are created and/or updated in AutoCAD 2000.

    o   Drawings conform to government standards and specifications.

     

    Qualifications and requirements are as follows:

    ·         4-8 years professional experience preferred (college degree is a plus).

    ·         Strong electrical background or aptitude.

    o   Knowledge of power distribution, communication, navigation, and lighting systems preferred.

    o   Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

    ·         Above average computer skills.

    o    Proficiency in AutoCAD 2000 or later preferred.

    o    SGML experience, or equivalent, a plus (if none, on-the-job training required).

    ·         Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.

    ·         Strong initiative and commitment to deadlines.

    ·         Above average writing skills.

    ·         Technical publications experience preferred.

    ·         Military and/or Department of Defense experience a plus.

    Work conditions are as follows:

    ·         Full-time, on-site presence required (remote work is not an option)

    ·         6:30 - 8:30 / 3:00 - 5:00 core hours

    ·         Background check required

    ·         Periodic travel may be required
